Thought I'd post the link to the Ludwig Atlas hardware website....looks real nice! As soon as its available in stores, I think my Yamaha hardware I use with my Luddies now is getting traded in on the Pro Atlas line! :D
Ludwig's NEW Atlas Hardware
If you want pricing on some of the new gear, go to drumsonsale.com They are offering it on there already. Gotta warn ya though (I was shocked!) the Pro series Atlas gear is pricey!! Almost $500 for the hi-hat stand and the double pedal (each!)! The Atlas classic and standard series are more reasonable, but I think those may be imports. Maybe the Pro is USA made?? Still......good chunk of change....maybe my Yamaha hardware stays for a while after all....
BTW.....I still use one Ludwig stand with my setup, a recent Modular series mini-boom cymbal stand....works great for me. I use the middle and top sections of the stand in the modular mount on the bass drum for my main ride cymbal then use the base of the stand and the modular double tom holder together to make a double tom stand to set my rack toms off to my left like Ringo did on the rooftop....much more comfortable for me. :D Ludwig was the only company that made stands with the one inch diameter tubing still to allow me to do this. All the other big companies went to 7/8" diameter tubing in all their stands years ago.....if I went with the new Atlas Pro, not sure I'd be able to do this. Just a thought for others that do something similar to my setup.....
It's nice to see Ludwig making an attempt to get back into the hardware business, but for me it's just too little too late. I don't see any innovation and it looks like they are going to be priced at the upper end of the spectrum.
Snare stand example from DrumsOnSale... $161.85 Ouch!
The Pearl S-2000 = $137.70
I don't see any superior features to justify the extra money for the Atlas Pro. I got the S-2000 over a year ago and my photo/review can be found here http://www.vdrums.com/forum/showthread.php?66084-Pearl-S-2000-Snare-Stand-Review (and on Amazon as well).
I do like the new colors of the Atlas Pro line bags and will probably pick some up.
Now that I see the prices I would go for the Ludwig flat base light cymbal stands at 37.50, they look closer to the 1400's. You can get three for 112.50
If I did not already have 3 1400's that is what I would buy for a vintage look.
If they go down more because of the new stands I might pick some up anyway for the new/old set I am building. I keep my light vintage hardware in a small trap case to use with whatever set I take out.
I don't like the look of the Classic stands.
I understand the versatility of being able to flip over the feet, but those "rectangular block" feet don't look "classic" at all to me....
Just my penny's worth.......
:2Cents:that's the very first thing I noticed about them too. those ugly feet. A nice round tip would have looked better. another 2 cents.
But what about the Hercules stuff?!? That was REAL freakin hardware!!!!
Dead dogs like rusty fire hydrants!!!
Hercules was nearly real hardware....now the Modular series....that was hardware......heavy over the top, just like the era it came from (yes the 80's), and a real backbreaker! LOL!

Bet your cymbals never collapsed whilst using Modular hardware; Hercules was slightly lighter weight... bunny hates vintage hardware- it sucks balls for real gigging!!!!

I don't much care for the block feet. However, Atlas hardware is reliable and it works. I'll wait until the prices level off at a saner range. The 'introductory' price for the line is 'a bit rich' considering the competition out there and the current state of the economy.
I'm a little disappointed. Ludwig should have put a better price point on them. They'd sell a million units and make up the difference in volume. I don't get the killer high prices for a product that is supposed to compete with everything else that's available out there.
How many do they expect to sell if, for example, their Atlas snare stand is priced at twice the price of ten other offerings out there. If you can get a new snare stand, plus a cymbal stand for the same price as a single Atlas stand, how many guys are going to choose the Atlas? I don't get their logic at Ludwig. Great idea, bring back the Atlas line... then they go and price it well over the average guys head. I thought charging twice what something is worth was DW's job. Go figure.
