Hi everyone!

My name is Wojtek and I come from Poland.

Not long ago I bought Ludwig kit from the seventies. I?ve got a couple of question and I?ll be very grateful if somebody could answer for them.

I can?t to define which model is it, when this drum was make (I mean exact year) and from which wood is it make?

In Poland is few Ludwig?s kits and even less people who are knowledgeable with it.

I add some photos which is necessary to recognition and identification.

tom 12? other tint of shell (inside the shell);

tom 13?

floor tom 16? (reinforcement ring);

bass drum 22? (reinforcement ring)

And it is my second Ludwig kit which I bought a couple days ago :)

GREETINGS,

Wojtek!

Hello Wojtek,

Welcome to the forum. My name is Matt. Your drums look like the 3 plies of the sixties and seventies made with 2 maple plies and polar wood ply in the middle. Please send us the serial numbers of the badges and we can get a pretty good idea of the date of your drums. There may be a date inside the shells that may look like this: Feb 07 1974.

I see you have nice clear Vistalites too.

Thank you for your quick answer. :)

That's the numbers:

12" - 1635775

13" - 2094798

There is no number on floor tom and bass drum.

The veneer have been probably removed from drums and I have no idea what now cover that drum.

16" 956654

22" 1146311

Thank you very much and i'm waiting for suggestion.

Hi Wojtek,

Your drums are from 1979-1980. Go here to date other Ludwigs by serial number:

The 12" is not a Ludwig shell. the hardware is correct, but the grain orientation is wrong and it doesn't appear to be maple.

The 13" appears to be a later 6-ply shell and the badge number somewhat confirms that.

The floor tom and bass drum are likely from a matched set (unnumbered B/O badges are from 1970 and the date stamp in the floor tom confirms this)

The veneer is not an original Ludwig finish.
