Acrolite is not a finish.

It is the model of the snare drum that John is referring to, not the finish of the other drums.

Well....the snare in the TINY pics does appear to be an acrolite, and the finish on the other drums does appear to be a faded BLUE oyster pearl, NOT black oyster pearl.

Got any vintage pics of your dad playing them in the Cavern? that would be cool.

Hmmm....I'm almost sure they're blue. Can you provide some more pictures of a slightly larger size? It may be picking up some reflected blue color -hard to tell from those pictures. I would like to see some more close ups if possible. Thanks

If you're asking help with worth, I'm not sure we can help you nail down a precise number. The values are all over the place (as has been stated in more than one thread). I would suggest you check out ebay and several vintage drum dealer sites for a ballpark figure. What you're going to find is exactly what has been stated...they are all over the place. Make no mistake, what you have is very valuable. If you want a number - 1700. It really doesn't mean a thing. You could get less than that or way more than that from someone who has been looking for this particular set. If it can be proven that it was used in the context of Ringo's run at the Cavern, then you might get twice the top value from some strange recluse in the Bavarian Mountains. Because of the finish and the date, it has an ethereal variable that you can't pin down. There are some odd folks out there that maintain strong connections with all that is "The Beatles". You really can't tell with these drums.

For the record...even if it's blue, that would just put the emphasis on Pete instead of Ringo. Same dance, different song.
