What is the order of installing the lugs on a shell. Does the white gasket go under the lug, then screws on the inside, or does the lug go on and the gasket and screws go on the inside? I see it both ways, which is correct?
Thanks

I believe the gasket goes on the outside, under the lug to protect the shell from scratches. The washer on the lug screws should protect the inside.
Thanks Guys...That made more sense to me to do it that way.
The white gaskets were used to "hide" the inner springs and inserts of the lug casings from view. Here's a tip: If you need to replace a gasket on Vistalites, trace a copy from a good one on a piece of old smooth white drum head and used a paper punch to cut the holes. I did this when I restored my "Tequila Sunrise" Vistas.
Fossil - that's a GREAT call! Thanks for the tip!
