I appreciate all the input on the Rogers Snare I posted about earlier.

I need help on the Ludwig set I have as well. I got this set, along with the snare, from an auctioned storage unit. I will probably keep the snare, but am looking to probably sell the Vistalites. My question is: should I sell them as is or invest in the repairs first. Here is the info I have on the set.

Blue Vistalite set by Ludwig includes:

All drum badges are B/O w/ serial, pointed.

24" Bass – Missing 1 head, rear rim of tuning keys, no mallet. 10 lug.

9”x10" Tom – open bottom, 6 lug – ser. # 1875499

10”x13" Tom – double headed, tuner, 8 lug – ser. # 1173504

11”x14" Tom – double headed, tuner, 8 lug – ser. # 1661347

16”x16" Floor Tom – Missing bottom rim and tuning keys and muffler. 8 lug. No badge.

Also high-hat on Rogers Stand, Crash Stand with counter weight (not Ludwig) Ludwig double tom rack stand. Ludwig Throne – seat cushion only.

would I be able to recoup my investment If I replaced the parts?

I am not even sure if the Bass is serviceable. I have had different opinions on whether the seam is original or has been repaired. I'll post pics of it in a reply here.

Here are close ups of the Bass Seam I have concerns about. If it is a repair job is it even workable to sell to someone as a project.

Looking on the drum guide here on this site,....It looks like your BD and CT are faded jellybean and the others blue vistalite, NONE of the BD in any photo or any other drum have screws with washers on the seams. The seam you show has excessive clear glue around it and washers next to lugs. I doubt that the factory would release drums in that condition !! You can research this in the vintage drum guide, is why it`s there !!

I think you have a mixed kit (BD inlay on vistalite blue is white)

Wasn't this kit on charlotte's Craigslist? also that is not a factory seem.

1975 catalogue,...right under the vistalites,...I may have read it wrong,... but all PVC will fade if exposed to light sources !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

that blue is not faded that is what it looks like,also I'm looking at my 1975 catalog now and it matches the kit on the forum to a tee, also jelly bean, is simply a referral to multiple colored drums in a kit.

Now that makes sence,..like I said,..I prolly read it wrong. The first vistalite page says availible in blue, green and red,...the jelly bean page is concert toms, darker lighting and phrases like, bright array of Jelly Bean colors and adding yellow and orange can mislead the reader to think`n it`s all new darker colors. Then again, it is a sales catalogue !!

Those vistalite blue BD have white inlay,...the one in this topis appears blue, with only one CT.

Again, Me mis-interprating what is written, us sandpeople are easily fooled !!

I have a PVC roofing iron with an attachment that would do that seam perfectly, but even if it filled the holes with the clear, they cannot be hidden !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
