Are club date drums only offered in 20" bass drum size? I saw a photo of what looked like club date style lugs (vintage kit I think) but the bass seemed larger than a 20. Just wondering...

I have a WFL club date with a 22" kick and 13" Rack. In the late 40s and early 50s There were club date outfits offered with a 24" or 26".

Without looking at old catalogs, IF I'm remembering correctly they changed the Ludwig Club Date sizes in 1963 to the standard (and very familiar) 14x20, 8x12, and 14x14. I do think that you could buy optional sizes as well, however. Ludwig did a GOOD job in that era of building what you wanted.
What Mike has posted was what was "standard" prior to that. They used the same 12x15 shells that they used for marching drums at that time.
BTW -- Mike, nice looking drums!

I have a 22,13,14,16 green oyster club date dated 1967. The original kit was 14x22,9x13 and 14x14 floor with the 16x16 picked up later and is a year older..1966. The toms have '67 date stamps, none on the bass but the badges are in series. Wouldn't know if it was special ordered but for sure they made club dates with 22" bass drums in '67!
I would like to see a pic of that one, green oyster??

ive heard some refer to the faded to green sky blue pearls as green oyster before. just a thought!

these drums are 4 sure 100% green oyster pearl. I am about to polish the shells and put everything back together to bring this kit to the drum show,
right now I'm finishing off a sliver sparkle club date which will give me 4 sets of Ludwig keystone classic, downbeat and club date in champagne, black oyster pearl, blue sparkle and silver sparkle. I want that picture before I sell the kits off as I'm thinking it will make a beautiful shot. I'm for sure an amateur photographer, and I have a studen photo guy on standby if I can't get what I'm looking for, but I'll post the very definately green oyster and the rest just as soon as I have them. Please forgive me that all the black oysters will have Beatle logo's on them because I'm selling them as Beatle kits (all the correct hardware and cymbals). I even have a Jr. Beatle kit that will make it's way into one of those pics. I plan on finally having this done by end of next week.
