Ludwig Universal Throw-off "adapter"

Loading...

Anybody ever seen a Ludwig Universal throw-off mounted to the bottom hoop using a backing plate like this? (ebay Item Number: 200511427311) The plate has "pat ped" stamped on it. Is it Ludwig or an after market "invention"? Seems like it would tend to twist the no-flange hoop unless the snare attachment rider was adjusted near the bottom end of the threads and then it would pull the adjusting screw towards the back plate making it difficult to turn. I guess I'm saying that I don't know why someone would have used this adapter, and I don't think it would work very well.

Ya, the seller doesn't know what brand of drum it is...says there's no markings. I just thought the method of mounting the throw-off was interesting...and a bad idea.
