Hi Purdie!
20" kick i think its the pic that makes it look a little smaller
20-13-16.
I have some delmar green sparkle to re wrap it in . along with a jazz festival.
Beautiful drums! Like the 20/13/16 configuration and the classy (and not-so-common) color. Is that the original finish?

Mike, unless that gorgeous blue pearl wrap is badly damaged, (and I don't see any evidence of it on your kit,) I would never in a million years re-wrap that kit.
You'll ruin the market value of those drums if you re-wrap them. I'm talking about a huge difference in value. Think about it long and hard before you strip that rare and beautiful finish off those drums. Trans badge kits are some of the best sounding, most desirable drums ever made by Ludwig. Keep them original. Trust me, yours is the first trans badge kit I have ever seen in Blue Pearl. I've been playing since 1963.
I'll say it again for emphasis: Yours is the first 'Blue Pearl' trans badge kit I've seen.

That is... if it is the original wrap...(?) Personally I don't think I've ever seen any vintage Ludwig kit in that color... was it offered? Seen after market wrap similar, but then I've not been at it for as long as Purdie Shuffle. Judging from later period spurs, (I'm assuming, as I have a trans badge kit with the non-encased fold outs) it makes me that much more suspicious, as well as no sign of consolette, holes or discoloration, though the pic is pretty small. Regardless, even if it's not original, and if it's not in bad shape, why would you want to change it to green sparkle??? Not everyone's first choice, and certainly not mine, but if you like it... Just thinking in the long term.

Thanks for the kind words.
It was re wrapped by the previous owner , i've had the kit 4 years now . it was done to a very high standard some time in the late 80's and yes still does look great.
I am really torn between wrapping or not . but as its already been done i dont think the value will be affected?
its all dated 11 may 1960
theres filled holes from the consolette on the kick and tom , and the it looks like those kick spurs were on from new as there dose'nt look to be any other holes where the earlier spurs would have been.
(not checked the floor tom legs out)
and finally and most importantly it sounds fantastic , the kick drum is a little monster!
although there is less volume in the floor tom than i thought it would have.
It's a great looking, (and I'm sure, sounding) kit and if it were up to me, I'd leave the wrap as-is, re-wrap or not. Probably won't affect value either way, (aside from cost of re-wrapping again) but I suppose the bottom line is - do you plan to keep it and enjoy it yourself, or eventually sell it? If selling is in the plan, I'd suggest leaving it, as I don't believe the green sparkle is as popular, but it is your kit, and if you prefer the green, then by all means...
Funny about the spur mounts - pretty sure the screw placements are different from that style and the open type, but maybe that was 'transitional' as well. I believe my kit is dated January, 1960, and is same format as yours, but in original sky blue pearl.
