Ludwig trans. badge COB seam and grommet questions

Loading...

This showed up the other day, in the photos it looked like rust on it.

Much to my relieve I used my thumb and smeared off a wonderful grimey spot on one of the lugs, it's not rust on the drum, just dirty. I think it will clean up pretty good.

I took a bunch of pics, I'm wondering if this seam looks correct for this drum, also there are 2 letters near the seam.

The badge grommet looks real long and there are washers to take up the space. Anyone see this before?

Also I read brass can look kind of green, the inside of the shell has a nice tint in the sun, pics don't quite pick it up.

And badges were placed on different sides of the same model drum once in awhile.

Thanks for any info! Warning; lots of pics!

WOW!!! She's a Beauty. And a transition badge too. Probably 1959/1960 which If I'm correct predates the Supraphonic. I wonder If this is a Super Ludwig??

I'm curious is to what the scratch marks are on the inside around the Butt plate and Throw off nuts. There also scratches around the large washer of the air grommet.

Great Find!

I have a 1960/63 COB SS with long grommet, but no washers. I'm guessing they used the long grommets that they had for all the wood shell drums at the time.
