What would I clean a 70's maple thermo glass drum with. Is minneral spirits too harsh, there is ton of dirt build up after all these years. Second question is where the clear has flaked off do you just leave that as natural patena. The only other thing I could do is refinish them, I would think that might de-value them. I would value everyone's opinion on this. Thanks, Steve

The best thing for CLEANING would be naptha. For polishing, get yourself a can of Gibson or Martin guitar polish, which are formulated for nitrocellulose lacquer finishes. Don't bother touching up the bare spots, as it will emphasize the extra dirt and oxidation these areas usually accumulate.
