Ludwig tacked head toms? Last viewed: 12 hours ago

Loading...

I am working out a deal on a few orphan drums a cousin of mine has: a pre serial WMP Ludwig 20" kick and a tacked head tom. Would it have been possible that the tom originally came with the kick, or were the tacked head drums passed out by then? The kick has the gull wing style spurs so it'd be around 1963, right? Haven't looked at the date stamp yet, he just sent me pics.

Thanks.

Tacked head toms were done by the 1940's. Take a look at the dates, the bass drum may be older than you think. Or the set could be mis-matched.

I think it would be almost impossible to find an original set with a tacked Tom and a bass drum that small.24" is the smallest I have seen with a tacked head tom. Here is a set (like my very first one in 1964)that probably dates from '46-'48.
