Ludwig SuperSensitive snare which year?

Loading...

Hi,

I just bought a 6.5" Ludwig SuperSensitive snare in a good condition. The guy who I bought it from said that it was made at the late 70's or early 80's.

After reading some vintage drums forums I found out that it was made in the 80's due to the rounded edges of the B/O badge, it also has a round blue reliable ludaloy sticker on the inside. The serial number on the badge is 3004825

My question is what is the approx. make year? Early, mid or late 80's?

Thanks!

There are no serial number dating guides that go that high with those badges.

The last numbers stop on the Rob Cook chart: 1979xxxxxxx - 2013537

You can just guess that it is probably mid-80's unless someone here has a drum they purchased around that time with a close number

The latest it probably is, is 1983 or 1984.....by then the large Chicago Keystone badge came into being and the reliable anti-galvanic sticker disappeared. I believe they changed the supplier of the shells at that time too, since they became slightly smaller in diameter and the stickers disappeared. Reliable anti-galvanic was not a type of shell, but the company that produced the shell for Ludwig.
