Ludwig Speed King ID Info needed Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

Hi, guys,

I'm working on a few Speed King Pedals and I've noticed some minor differences in the markings on the bottom of the frame. Is there a Ludwig Expert out there who can tell me what they mean? Do these markings and slight manufacturing differences make it possible to pin down the dates of issue? Also, is there any more desirability for a "WFL" Speed King over a basic "Ludwig" Speed King? I know the WFL's are obviously older, right?

As you can see in the pics, in addition to different numbers, there are a couple where there is a small rectangular indention in the bottom of the pedal where the little hump exists on the top side...the hump being the place the hoop clamp is attached with a roll pin...on one of these...the indention is deeper to the point that the roll-pin can be seen when it is actually installed...on the other, the hole isn't as deep and the pin is not visible.

You help is appreciated as always. You've never let me down before.

Thanks,

Johnny V

I would imagine that those marks and numbers are from the foundry that produced the parts and have nothing to do with Ludwig. Other than the part number. But that KDC mark looks like a foundry mark and the consistent appearance of 1202 looks like a part number.

Too many great drums to list here!
