I'm well aware of the rarity of Ludwig’s original "mod" wraps – citrus mod, mod orange, and psychedelic red. It seems that these are even more popular today than when originally issued. As a matter of fact, I believe that Ludwig recently came out with a "50th Anniversary" mod orange. I was fortunate enough to purchase a Psychedelic Red kit several years ago. However, one of my favorite wraps that I seldom see (other than the Bonham kit) is the company's Sparkling Green Pearl. I'm wondering if it's due to the scarcity of kits and/or snares originally issued in this wrap or possibly just a lack of interest? I think the sparkling green just "pops"! I just thought I'd check in with you "Ludwig gurus" to get your take on this one. Is the company's original sparkling green pearl considered a "desired" wrap by Ludwig players and/or collectors or just "another sparkle"? Any and all words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!
Ludwig Sparkling Green Pearl
That's a great looking drum. The green sparkle is a bit more uncommon that most of the sparkle finishes with Ludwig. Most consider it a very desirable wrap. I've got some orphans but have never owned a kit.

Sparkling green pearl seems to be one of those finishes that people either really hate or really love (from what I've seen, at least). It also seems to be quite rare in "unfaded" condition.
I'm one of the people that loves it!
Green sparkle is very collectible these days. I think there's a few reasons you don't see much.
Green sparkle didn't sell a lot.
Most green sparkle from back in the day has fade issues...the green's gone!
It's very difficult to assemble a matching set from single drums.
It still doesn't sell a lot these days from what I see out there.
I have a couple Legacy green sparkle sets, they're beautiful!
My favorite finish of all time by Ludwig. And my favorite color is blue ! Go figure..:p

I agree it didn't sell a lot. I started playing as a young teen at the end of the '50s, and back in the day I don't recall ever seeing anyone gigging with a green sparkle set, regardless of manufacturer. I saw plenty of gold, red, silver, blue and champagne, but no green. Not sure why it was so relatively unpopular.

BEC,
I could swear I saw you playing a one-up, two-down set of green sparkles on tour in 2008. Maybe I’m confusing it with a video from back in the day...

Green is my favorite color... Was SO tempted to go (deeper) in debt to grab a stop sign badge 18-12-14 Gretsch kit at the Drum show last year. They looked and sounded amazing.
They DID sell by the way so I won't see them this year.
Probably for the best since I've had about two hours of playing time since the drum show last year!
