Ludwig snares

Loading...

Hi,

I have a question about the '60s wood ludwig 6lug snaredrums(pioneer model?). I've seen them with chroom hardware and with nickel. Was there a difference in model then and/or is there a difference in value now between those two?

Any other info on these would be cool too.

Thanks,

Kev

I would say yes. Usually chrome on most models is more desired then nickel

hardware.

Early on everything was nickel plated and when chrome started it was an option for more money.

Eventually the nickel was phased out and everything went to chrome.

I think the value on a 6 lug Pioneer between chrome and nickel is not that much of a difference like earlier model drums that just started to be chromed.

I think the finish will make a bigger difference, since anyone can swap out the hardware from one drum to another.

A rare finish with nickel hardware will sell for more then a regular finish with chrome hardware.
