Ludwig Snare Question

Loading...

Hello Gentleman,

I have a 1964 Ludwig Pioneer - 6 Lug - and I have a few questions.

Were original hoops COB or Steel

Does anyone have a picture of a "Mahogany" Pioneer
The drum was originally a Duco. Some years ago my grandfather (original owner) sanded the Duco and Stained the drum to a dark red mahogany color. I plan on refinishing the inside white and the outside. I have not decided what to do. I noticed in the catalog scans that Ludwig offered the drum in a Mahogany finish. http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/ludwig_snaredrums/1963_LUDWIG_SNARES6.jpg

Does anyone have a picturew of a Mahogany Pioneer for reference?

Thank You,

Here is a current auction on eBay. This drum is pretty indicative of that era. Sometimes they look more reddish in pics than in person. Just strip all the hardware off and sand down the shell to reveal the true woodgrain, then lacquer coat to your liking.Party

Here's another that just came up on ebay:

And, here's a pic of one I put together a few months ago. The finish is original.
