I'm not too familiar with Ludwig models outside of the Supra, Acro, Jazzfest and Pioneer... but there seems to be a lot of fishiness going on with this drum.

I believe that is either a "Concert" or "Rock Concert" model.

I'm not crazy about that strainer and butt plate.

Good ol" P-85 and P-32 for moi......

And, the shell looks like it's drilled for a keystone badge, not the B+O badge?

And, the wrap doesn't look familiar to me.....

The badge looks to be low on the shell, but the grommet appears to be original. I've had a blue cortex tom before, 6 ply like your snare.

6 ply from that time frame would be a mix of maple and poplar plies. Just so you know.

The badge looks to be pointed rather than rounded on the ends, which would put it older than 1977, correct? Also, I dug through some old catalogs I have and all I could find was a "Rock/Concert" model in that depth with that P-87 strainer in a very early 80s catalog, but with longer bow tie lugs. It also had a break in the hoop to accommodate the strainer - the one for sale does not. Blue cortex was a finish in that catalog.

I think the strainer/butt system may be a bit touchy. Still tempted though - it's selling for under $200 and looks usable, which is my main criteria. Any other thoughts welcome, thanks!

I have a blue cortex kit just like in the catalog pages shown except my kit has black and white Rocker badges.

Rounded badge was a bit later, 1979ish. The Rock/Concert model shown in the '80 catalog has the small bowties. I think that is what you have there.

Do you know if your kit was all maple or the maple/poplar mix stated above?
