Ludwig Snare ID B/O White over Wood

Loading...

Striking out trying to ID this snare. Any help appreciated. I’ve seen B/O chrome over wood but this one is white with the strange interior.

Badge type and serial indicate ~'83-'84. Finish appears to be White Cortex.

Looks like a 1982-'84 model L-600 S/L Series snare: 5x14" 8-lugger 4-ply maple/poplar shell. Typically only offered in Chrome Pearl wrap, but not the first time I've seen one in another S/L Series finish (in this case, White Cortex, but also available in Blue, Black, and Red Cortex).

In mid-1984, the S/L Series was renamed "Rocker" and the badges were changed from Blue/Olive to Black/White. These drums are super underrated, the shells are essentially the same as the later Super Classic series introduced in mid-1987. And the size and lug count basically makes it a budget jazz fest!

Sure thing, happy to help!! IDing Rocker vs. S/L drums etc can be pretty tricky, there were a ton of spec changes in a very short amount of time... Ludwig seemed to just grab parts that were handy half the time! But I think the blue/olive badge nails it down pretty good for your drum as a pre-'84 model.

Great sounding drums in my opinion. I've got a few. Had one with the black wrap at one time.
