Ludwig Rocker II Snare

Just got this off eBay, I have a few Ludwig snare drums but I only had one Silver Sparkle wood snare. A Piccolo that had some sun fade on one side. I had been looking for something in a regular size and took a chance on this one. I had 2 Acrolites so borrowed one's hardware for this one. The P85 snare strainer didn't fit but luckily I had a P83 in my parts box that fit. Also had a grommet from Jammin Sam that I never used that fit the badge hole perfect. Of course the lugs were made for the Acrolites ring and have that gap, but over all it looks pretty nice, and doesn't sound bad at all. The edges have been touched up making the reso snare side pretty close to the lug when tensioned up tight, but it's alright. Makes it closer to a 4 1/2"x14". The wrap is a little brighter, as I expected, than my others, but you will never be able to tell on stage under lights. I think it matches pretty well. I believe the shell is 4 ply Maple Poplar Poplar Maple, with the brownish granitone interior.

Thanks guys. the more I keep fiddling around with the tuning, the better it sounds. I should be able to use it on a gig.

So cool, great score! You should call those gaps on the lugs "resonance gaps" - they allow for more shell resonance...see? :)

I have a 6.5x14" rocker chrome over wood that sounds great. There are always a few 5x14" ones on Craigslist in my area, I am considering picking one up.
