Ludwig Rocker I ? Probably yes,... or not ?!

As a huge Belgian Ludwig fan, please allow me to post my first topic on this superb platform.

I purchased my first Ludwig on 23th March 1990 at age 24.

Having played a "Blue-Onyx" Japanese Star for a few years, this Ludwig fulfilled my ultimate "rock" dream and was bought of my 3 very first salaries I've ever earned in my life.

Currently, I am restoring the kit.

Going through the various posts and topics on this forum, I'm a bit confused and find it hard to categorize or value this set. Especially the fact that my set came with the original classic lugs and not as shown on the 1988 catalog with the smaller type of lugs. At the "Vintage Drum Guide" page dedicated to the Rocker series it is mentioned that only as of 1996, the rocker came again with the classic lugs but my set is from late '89 or begin '90.

Can anyone help me out here ?

Please allow me to describe my kit.

- Date of purchase (new in box): March 23 1990 in The Netherlands

- Color: Plum Crazy (not sure but sort of wine red)

- Interior color: clear lacquer.

- Large classic lugs on BD. Small classic lugs on TT's and FT.

- Sizes: BD:22"X16", FT:16"X16, TT:13"X12, TT12"X11.

- Badges: black/white, rounded corners, no box around serial number

- Snare: Supraphonic 14"X6.5, Monroe badge

Thanks

Stef

Couldn't agree with you more Kev, but the kit is already fully dismantled for restoration. I'll see what I have from the past.

Tnx

Hi,

somebody any idea which type of Rocker this is and what year I should be looking at ? (purchased new in box March 1990 in Holland)

I found it hard to find accurate info on it.

Reasons why,....

- the kit doesn't have the typical Rocker lugs but has the classic ones (see pictures)

- The kit came new in box with a 14" X 6.5 Suprapnonic Monroe badged.

- Shells interior is clear lacquer

They look to be the ones from the late 80's/early 90's. 4-ply shells, I believe. The rocker line at the time offered Modular hardware and obviously, classic lugs.

A friend of mine has a set of those and they sound great, but he knows how to tune a drum....
