Ludwig Red Sparkle Find

Loading...

I found these on criagslist. Got them for $200. 22 & 13 red sparkle pointe B/O with same badge acro, speed king, luddy hi hat stand, flat base cymbal stand, and some cheap pearl cymbals. Clear maple interiors. All are in excellent shape. I dont have a red sparkle kit so I decided I need one!.

I have a early 16" Floor tom with same interior, and a standard 3ply snare shell. I intend to wrap the floor tom and snare in red sparkle. The hoops are metal. I will need some correct hoops with inlays

THe grommets are all perfect. I believe this is the original wrap. Looks like serial numbers are 72-76. I can't read the Ludwig labels on the interiors. Anyone??

If you remove a lug and its nice and new looking under it then it might be a rewrap, but it looks good to me. Nice find

The first pointy badge's had a 6 digit number that were continued sequentially where the keystone badge left off in mid 69 and continued into the 1970's. Then in 71 they used a blank badge with no number. The went back to numbers in 72ish, the pointy badge continued thru 79ish.

Thank you!

Im pretty positive they are original due to the pointy badges being so nice and tight. Doesn't clear interiors indicate early 70s ?

They were asking $400, but the metal hoops devalue them, plus no floor tom. If it had a floor tom a supra would go nicely with the kit. Since Im gonna have to wrap a floor tom I might as well wrap that standard snare shell I have. I loaned my Yukon XL to my daughter from out of town and they are riding around in the back of it. I get my truck back in the morning.I am also cusious if its glass or just red sparkle. Was glass available back then?

No they are red sparkle. Red glass was during WFL time frame.

I plan on getting samples from Precision, Drummaker, and jammin Sams to see which matches best, but I imagine they all are made by Delmar, but I also understand Delmar has Sparkle, Super Sparkle, and Halogram. Too many choices make it take to dang long!!

Nice score!

The labels look to state model as: 9z2 or 922.

Regret can't get the better refined digital pic to show.
