Ludwig "Standard" drum shells...

Loading...

Hopefully someone out there knows about difference between Ludwig Standard series drum shells and the Ludwig Classic series drum shells. Were they both a 3-ply make-up, or were there differences?? I've always

wondered about this. Any help on this topic would be appreciated.

Yup, same classic 3 ply sound, but an ugly badge.

Same great 3 ply shell, minus the finish quality on the inner ply. Hence they were always painted.

Thanks for the answers, guys... I thought the shells were he same

between the two different series of drums. My oldest brother, 11 yrs.

older than me, special ordered a new set of the "Standars" in 1969-1970,

after he served his hitch in the air force. I can't remember the correct name

of the color, which was a combination of different shades of "root beer"

brown. he had a setup of 12/13/16/22 sizes. He's kicked himself for

letting them go many years ago. This color is on E-bay once in awhile.

Thjanks again for the verification of the shells.

The color was probably orange strata or gold strata.
