Ludwig "Carioca" Set (All Original!)

Here is a complete vintage Ludwig Carioca Kit from the 1971 catalog in great condition. The kit was originally purchased by my Grandparents as a wedding gift for my Father sometime before May 1970. All the blue and olive badge numbers date 1969. I have located date stamps on the timbales and snare drum with the date of March 1970. You can tell this is an original set based on the badge numbers. The timbales have sequential badge numbers while the bass and floor tom have only two numbers between them. The opportunity to own a complete vintage set such as this with original cases plus the Zildjian cymbals and hardware make this set very rare!!! Contact me with your best offer!! **Everything is fully operational and in great overall condition for the set's age. I would rate this complete set at 93/100. No modifications or holes have been drilled in the shells, hardware, or symbols. Cases are free of paint, names, stickers, or holes. They only contain normal marks from wear and age. This set is completely original from the day it was purchased for my father. Everything has been cleaned and ready to sell.)

Your asking price is alittle high...should be more like 750.00 to 850.00 and thats on a good day.....Mikey

Although this is a very nice kit, in amazing condition, it is just not that highly sought after. In the vintage drum world, as with most collectibles, rarity does not always equal high prices. This kit is likely in the best original condition of any Carioca kit available today, but it does not mean there is a huge market for it. I would suggest maybe placing this kit on ebay. There will be a much larger audience for them. I do wish you good luck with your sale.

I disagree with the set being priced too high.

Snare $250

Bass $250

Floor $250

Cymbals $300

Stands and throne $250

That's $1300 without the timbales or cases.....

Plus it's a complete, out-of-the-catalog outfit.

Now, this is just me, and I know the Panther finish isn't the most popular... nor are the timbales for toms...... but someone out there would pay the asking price.

I would not eBay it, I agree you will never get your price there.....

I would wait for the right buyer, and stand firm with your price.

Thanks everyone for your input. I will most likely keep the set unless someone offers my asking price. I will probably end up just keeping this set in my basement. There is no way I am letting this set go for 750.00. Thanks everyone for your input. I greatly appreciate it.

One word of advice if you are to keep these in the basement - wrap the drums in plastic before putting them in the cases. If you have a finished basement this probably won't be that big of a deal, but if it is unfinished then it will be worthwhile to protect your investment.

Try posting these again in six months or so - you may have a likely buyer that didn't see these the first time around.

Thanks for the advice. I will probably just keep this set with the hopes that the value goes up sometime. It originally cost around 900.00 in 1970 for my grandparents. 40 years later not much of an increase- haha. The history behind this set is growing on me to just hang onto for my kids.
