I see.

I had this one on my basdrum:

But I even get beside the other one, as on that first one. I did not know what it was for....

Actually, I do not use any of them now,I have tom on a snarestand , but it´s nice to know what it is for.

This 70s wrap is totally different from the earlier wraps. It is like the equivalent of the bowling ball black oyster finish to the 60s black oyster. It is much darker, and probably the main reason why is 1)the colors don't have the dripping aspect to them and 2) they may have a dark backing rather than a white backing. I have had both, the darker wrap which is what you have, I had a set that had b/o badges without serial numbers. I thought it was a prototype because there was an earlier ('69?) date on the shell, if I remember correctly. According to its former owner it was obtained by a Ludwig factory worker.

They put off a completely different vibe than the 60s and early 70s versions do.

From O-Lugs

Clip mounts were often used on the multi-concert tom setups seen in the 1970's, like the QuadraPlus and OctaPlus configurations.

wowee. well that explains both the mount and my concert tom. not sure i understand the mid/late 70s obsession with concert toms, they look AND sound lame.

though i'm sure they have their place, i'm not one to judge.

having said that i think i'll be converting mine to a double header when i get the lugs together etc.

thank you so much, a real fountain of knowledge.
