in 1970 i got a 22 bass drum head in munich.it was coated abd the new ludwig logo on but the big thing for me was the lettering on the head was in blue metallic does anyone else remeber this? it may have been a special but the drum shop in munich liked the band i was with at the tume playing across the road in the pm hithouse schwabbing, munich
ludwig new logo on bass drum 1970
I always thought the logo was printed in black ink.
The logo head ink was always black as far as I know...but the STICKS had the blue metallic lettering as I recall.
The branding ink on the original Weathermaster bass drum heads was plain green...the ink on the smaller heads of the same era was blue but I can't see my pictures clearly enough to determine if it was the metallic blue ink. Someone else will have to chime in to verify that or not.

hi thanks but i do remeber the head was metallic blue, all the heads i had before that were black but this was ine of the earliest new logo heads with same coloir as sticks. i do have a polaroid still on existence of me playing it but sadly black and white and faded
this was def blue met
allic lettering but small maybe was a one of or to certain dealers in germany, i have apic of it but sadly its a b&w polaroid faded. never saw one like it then or since i ended up taking it off and playing kit open again as was the trend back then. also i wondered if certain finishes were sent to different countries as ive hardly seen ablack diamond classic here in u.k. since. i got mine in germany
I believe you but I'm just not familiar with any examples of what you have described. Maybe someone else will know.

I remember heads with the head model and small Ludwig logo in a metallic blue ink (I don't think "ink" is quite the proper term though, some type of transfer film probably). The big bass drum logo was always black to my knowledge, at that time a wet-slide decal was used.
Anyway I do remember that, circa 1972-73. Also some in green.
