I have just purchased a 60's Ludwig in blue oyster. Some of you will have contributed to or read my post over in the Non USA section http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=8690 as I wasn't sure what it was then (no badges). It's a bit of a mongrel as it turns out.
Anyway, I've stripped and cleaned the floor tom which is in pretty reasonable condition but I noticed that the lugs were of two slightly different appearances on the inside. Now I've stripped the BD and have discovered the same thing only with the BD one of each of the lug hole pairs in the shell have been enlarged as if these lugs didn't fit at some point. They seem to be the correct type of lug for the drum and the outline left in the wrap matches up perfectly with these lugs.
Each lug is stamped inside with 2243-1 but some have a symbol of 2 W's in an incomplete circle and the others have a symbol of a house with something inside of that. The spacings for the screws are the same.
So my question is, can anyone shed any light on this mystery?
