Ludwig Legacy (3-ply) with die-cast hoops? - Page 1

Hi everyone

I play a Ludwig Legacy (3-ply, maple/poplar/maple, 14, 16, 18 toms) for about 10 years now.

I want to try something new. I put die-cast hoops (top & bottom) on my 1978 Ludwig 14x6,5 supersensitive snare last year and liked the sound. Very focused, easier to tune and a very strong rimshot.

Would the die-cast hoops also do 'magic' to my toms?

I've seen prices of these hoops for toms and they are not cheap at all...

What brands make the best value for one's money die cast-hoops?

I'm not sure how these prices compare to European prices...Have you considered wood hoops?

Ooh, I wouldn't use the word "magic" here. There will certainly be a difference, but it's not always going to be beneficial. I think thin-walled toms work great with them, and thick walled get flanged hoops.
