After I gave the guy cash for my Slingerland kit, he pulled out this snare and just gave it to me. It had broken snares hanging off, a tube sock and foam in the drum and lots of duct tape residue from the foam being taped on the inside of the drum.

What I did to restore it was:

1. cleaned it up, wiped tension rods with steel wool and oiled lugs

2. replaced top head with a Remo coated Ambassador

3. replaced bottom head with Evans Hazy 300

4. installed Puresound 20 strand brass snares

5. replaced two longer tension rods with appropriate size vintage Ludwig tension rods

So how did I do guys? I thank you all for being such a great reference and for answering my questions. It really sounds great.
