Ludwig - I bought this in the '70s - my first

Hey guys - great forum.

This is my first drum. I'd like to know more about it, and to give it some TLC and rehab. I know it's a Ludwig, and I think 1959 ... Any help would be appreciated. Also, I need some snares for it and head recommendations. Thoughts?

Judging just from the badge, it is later than a 50's snare. I can't see it real clear, but if there is a serial on it, its after '63. You will want to check the badge color and design with the snare portion of this website.
