Ludwig hi hat cymbal cup quick fix repair

Loading...

Here's a quick repair tip for extending the life of a broken Ludwig rubber hihat cymbal cup.

I simply just used the tapered rubber grip from a ball point pen. Works like a charm so far.

Hey I'm not sure what brand pen it was. I think it was a mailing sample from work(Usps). I had used it till the ink ran out and was getting ready to toss it. I always take pens apart to see what new ways manufactures put the little gizmos together and I noticed I could slide the rubber grip on and off and reposition it etc. That's when I realized I had a cymbal sleeve in my hand!

I did the same with mine with rubber tubing, the same I use for sleeves on my cymbal stands. I had to enlarge the hole in the cup a bit with a drill until it fit snug and then glued it in place.
