Hi,

I have the chance to pick up this Ludwig hardware set.

I'm not a specialist on Ludwig hardware and can't seem to find them back in the catalogs, so I would like to get some input.

- What would be the manufacturing date?

- What type of Ludwig hardware we're looking at?

- Would they have come as a set?

- Do the stands look genuine or would they've been altered?

Thanks

thats a nice group of ludwig hardware. it certainly could have all come together.i cant tell exactly whats in the pics but i have a pretty good idea.

the throne appears to be model 1026 drum and timpani stool. the value on this alone can be really high. red top ludwig porto thrones usually run about 75 bucks. but this particular throne can go into the hundreds as shown on ebay recently.

the hi hat stand appears to be the 1123-1 stand. these first showed up in the 67 catalog but came out earlier close to 65. they made these for years so they dont bring a high value. maybe 50 bucks or so depending on condition.

the snare stand is probably a 25-50 item as well. those are pretty sturdy as well. this is the one that i cant completely identify by the pics. ludwig made several version of hercules stands in the early-mmid 60's. they look a lot like the atlas stands of later years but say hercules on them and also have a ludwig script logo stamped on them. this may be a 1364-1 hercules that was shown in the spring 65 ludwig drummer as a new product. i;d have to see better pics of the stand to tell.

I believe that Ringo used that same throne, hence the high prices they commend.

Thanks for the input guys,...

If the throne is good enough for Ringo's bottom, it will surely do for mine,..Cool Dude

The deck of the throne is obviously torn and taped so let's wait and see when I see the goods live.

The ad doesn't say much so it's a bit of a wild guess but I surely don't want to wake sleeping dogs,...

Anyway, once cleaned and polished, the hardware should blend nicely with both my 1966 Luddy's.

I promise to post better pictures once I have them.

Hi Folks,

Yesterday I received the hardware.

I started its cleaning, here already some pictures of the throne.

The deck is torn but all in all, the thing is in good shape.

Any suggestions what to with that seat? Leave it as it is or redo the cover?

Any ideas where to find that?

The Hi-hat and snare-stand both have Ludwig logo's on them but I couldn't find one on the throne ???

I have a Ludwig snare stand similar to that one and it is a great stand. My brother used to have that hi-hat stand and that is the one I started on. Cool pics of the throne...

original is always best when possible. I would keep that seat the way it is. Overall it looks pretty good.

Cool throne, indeed, Stef! I purchased a porto throne and since we all know how uncomfortable those old tops are....I just took the triangle mounting plate off and attached it to a new, comfortable seat top so I can actually use it. I kept the original seat top, though...

Agreed. Nice throne as-is and leave it original.
