Ludwig Hardware Question

Loading...

Do any of you Ludwig experts know when Ludwig switched from knurled ends on FT legs and L-arms to the more commonly seen grooved ends? (see pic below of both types). I'm trying to determine which style FT legs should go on an early 70's 16" FT.

early Mapex dual bass drum Saturn kit
1964 Leedy Ray  Mosca kit in Blue Sparkle
1959 Slingerland Super Gene Krupa snare in WMP
1968 Slingerland Hollywood Ace Snare Drum
1969 and 1977 Ludwig 400 Supraphonic snares
1965 Acrolite snare
Ludwig Coliseum snare
'68 Rogers Dynasonic snare
Pearl free floating piccolo snare
13" Mapex piccolo snare
6.5" deep Mapex steel snare

I know there's more snares than that.

I think mid 1965 when they switched the design on the floor tom leg mounts.

Thanks guys! So I'll install the grooved legs on my early 70's FT. And thanks BEC for narrowing down the transition to 1965 (presumably without having to go check your warehouse of kits).

I've been curious about this myself. Glad for the answer!
