Thanks for your input. Very good points indeed. Also very nice kits. Can you tell me the size of your drums?

Here is something that may interest you. I have this 14" Rogers Eagle Badge parade drum. Single tension. Looks like it matches the bass drum. You could use it as a 14" floor or up tom.

Sorry you lost out on them. Something else will come along, as it invariably does.

Forgive my ignorance here, but............

Was the drum 12" or 17" in diameter? I thought most parade snares were 15"? If it is a 17", you would have needed a custom head anyway.

I found a 12X15 Ludwig & Ludwig oval badge single tension snare that I snapped up. It’s maple and not mahogany but I’ll make it work. It’s painted blue so I’ll have some work to do.

The drums I missed out on were both 17 inch diameter. I checked with Remo and they said they would have no problem making 17 inch heads. I’ll have to to the same for the 15 inch head. I’m keeping my eye out for a 9 X 13 to use for a rack Tom. There’s one from 1970 that I’m looking at but that’s a new drum relatively speaking. I’d post some photos but can’t seem to do it from my iPad.

Thanks for responding.

Vibes,

Thanks for responding. That’s a beautiful drum but I’m trying to keep it all Ludwig. I was also looking for more of a basket case type so I wouldn’t feel bad converting to a floor Tom.

So my floor Tom project is a Ludwig & Ludwig oval badge 12 inch deep X 15 inch diameter marching drum that has been painted blue. It’s maple and not mahogany,I’m pretty sure. I was considering mounting it on a snare stand but I need one that can accommodate a 15 inch drum and not be too high. I tried it out on my DW7000 stand but it won’t handle the diameter. I have an old snare stand that can handle the diameter but it’s too high at the lowest height. I’ll try my DW9000 tomorrow. The other option will be to drill 6 holes and put floor Tom mounts on. I’ve been looking at some Leedy mounts similar to the link below.

I’m interested to here any thoughts, opinions, and suggestions.

Thanks
