when did Ludwig stop wrapping their drums into the ply of the wood? I have some 1970 and 1978 toms and bass drum that the wrap goes around the drum and over laps maybe 1" but not into the ply is that common? I sold a 1959 snare that the wrap went into the ply.

It was around 1968 or 1969 that Ludwig stopped applying the wrap to the flat layers and started applying it to the round cylinder. The shells were considerably rounder at that point.
