Ludwig Downbeat Snare 1965

Hello

I have a 1965 Ludwig Downbeat Snare, I have no idea what it is worth or how rare it is. It is in perfect shape and seems complete. Any help would be great.

I have attached pics.

Welcome! What you have is a very desirable snare, in the right color, and will have many offers very quickly. Good luck if you are selling, and it should go here to someone who is looking to complete a set. There are meny missing Downbeat snares, and a lot of guys here that want one.

Ooooohhh, YES! You have a very nice drum, there! It's nice for lots of reasons...

It's a desirable color

It's a desirable model

It's in great shape

It can be matched with a Downbeat drum set of the same finish (which many people own -but not with the matching snare drum!)

I have seen a blue sparkle Downbeat sell for almost $700.00 in the past. I think they still may be right up there -to the right buyer!

The extra-good thing is that Champagne Sparkle was a fairly popular color back in those days. When you run across two people who have the Downbeat kit -but with a Supra, instead of the Downbeat snare, THEN you'll get some potentially crazy money for it.

By the way, I have a red sparkle one and I never really liked the way it played or sounded. But!... I own a red sparkle Downbeat kit (a year younger) that it matches, perfectly -and the right hardware, too. 'nuff said!

Realistically, if you went to sell it right now and you were in a hurry....you might see a range of between 350-500 dollars. That's my guess.

It appears to say "Made in Taiwan" on that snare wire set, though. -not the end of the world, by any stretch. But it's not "complete" without the proper wire set. -just FYI.

I think the wire is still around, the drummer in my band replaced it...

I'd say worth in the $300-$400 range.....no more than $425 at tops.
