Ludwig copper-phonic snare drum
Wow! Love the look. I friend of mine played one yesterday and said they were very nice. Another smart move by Ludwig. What's your guess as to the price? They can't afford to go too high or they'll die on the vine.

'Fair' market price for a copper shelled drum, but on the high-end price-wise for a snare drum. Did I see gaskets on the lugs? Copper does make for a dry, woody sounding snare. If you 'must have' then $750 isn't the Moon for a quality copper snare.
I don't like that they made a new drum 'look old' by artificial means. Better to put out a shiny new drum and allow a -natural- patina to form. Then the finish is legit. I'm not crazy about that faux antique finish although it does look good. I prefer the 'real' thing when it comes to patina.

Agreed. If it is $750, same as bronze I'll have to pass. We'll see.
Our own Bermuda Schwartz stated it is one of the best sounding snare drums he has ever played.
So when I look up Phonic online, it will bring me to Ludwig too now ?

I've had my 6.5" since January, and quickly earned a spot among my favorite few metal snares. It's a little bit Supra, a little bit Black Beauty, a little bit bronze, and also kinda woody for some reason. The best of everything in one snare, IMO. Yeah, it's priced up there with the bronze, but there are much more expensive snares mass-produced (AND custom) snares that don't come close.
