I just finished converting a 3 ply 14x16 concert tom to a micro kick. fitted a reso head and a Trick lifter/conversion set-up. Mine is black. Great little drum. Added a 6 py 10" and a Rocker 13" FT.

very nice, these 3ply shells sound really good, i was happy that when i drilled the holes with a 1/4" spade bit there was no or very little splintering nothing major.

Compliments.

Also, "uni-bits" are a very worthwhile investment for clean, clean holes.

You use those for shells? Good idea - might want to use tape so you don't go too far.

I bought one to put hood pins on my car and I've found a zillion uses for them since. Finally, clean undistorted holes in sheet metal! I paid $55 for mine, but I found them a lot cheaper at Summit Racing:

Wow...interesting.

I just use a black sharpie to mark how far I wanna go in with the bit. Yeah, definitely practice with 'em a bit at first before going at your classic shell...but they really are awesome bits...

Nice job! - much more versatility with double heads too!

I recently picked up a couple of Beverley concerts - 13 and 16 - and was wondering if it would be worth doing a similar thing.

Tama Superstar, 22, 22, 16, 14, 13 Desert Burst
Premier Genista, 22, 16, 13, 12 Black Lacquer
Premier Genista, 20, 14, 10 and snare Black Lacquer
Premier Resonator 22, 16, 14, 13 poly creme/black
Zickos 22, 16, 14, 13, clear acrylic and snare
