Ludwig Club Date sizes Last viewed: 4 seconds ago

I have a 13" rack tom and 20" bass drum. Were any 15" floor toms offered in the Club Date series?

The 13" tom has a natural interior, but the bass drum has white. I snagged the rack tom on ebay, and I picked the bass drum up from craigslist, both for around $100 each.

I'm interested in completing it with a floor tom, but I am unsure of what would have been accurate. Anyone have an idea?

1964 Slingerland Sound King 13/15/22 Ebony Satin Stain (refin.)
1965 Ludwig Downbeat 13/16/20 Turquoise Sparkle (rewrap)

1979/80 Ludwig Classic 13/14/24 Wine Red
1980 Yamaha Rec. Cust. 12/13/16/22 Cherry Red

...plus an ever-growing snare farm... Luddy/Ayotte/Slinger/Pearl/etc.

I have a set of '59 club dates with a 12x15 floor tom, and I think--people who know far more can correct me--they moved to a bigger floor tom in the sixties.

My bass is a 22' as well, though, so I guess it all depends on what year yours are.

I believe the bass is '67 and the rack tom is '68. I'll have to check the serial #s again when I'm home later.

Based on the catalogs elsewhere on this site, it looks like Ludwig switched Club Date floor toms from 12X15 floor toms to 14X14 between 1963 and 1965, which seems to coincide with a switch from 22" bass drums to 20". So your 20" bass probably would have come with a 14X14 originally.

Ah, thanks for that. So if it had a 14x14 FT, then the rack would've been 12"?

Yes, that seems to be the case. Check some of the catalogs here for more details:

Yessir, I was just checking those out. Curious, they sold the acrolites with club date outfits. That's cool.

So it seems I need to sell my 13" rack tom and try to find a home for my 16" downbeat blue oyster shell.

It will probably be a long search for those blue oyster pearl toms. I have a '69 acrolite though, so 2/4 at least! :)

Gotcha. :) Just kinda new to the whole vintage world and Ludwig! It'd be interesting to see all the configuration options that people have found outside of the catalogs. Were kits ever mixed with/without white interiors?
