yeah i would say,
i know a lot of people here are total purists on this site , but my first ludwig was a super classic from 1990 it's gigged near on 1000 times, been recorded countless times ,and engineers love it!
it sounds great (louder obviousely due to tom depth than shallow toms)and has a massive tuning range.
i now have a 1959 transition badge kit but would never sell my other set!

I have a set of '93s "Super Classics". I gig Rock, Blues or other non-jazz gigs with them. I love 'em. The six ply shells sound way better then the current classic maples..imo of course. ...Matt
