Ludwig Blue Strata selling high

I'm not sure how to feel about this one. On the one hand, it's great that this one may go for some good money, but on the other hand, it's not worth the money it's going for. Strange. Right now it's at 709.77 with about 2 hours to go. This one is really odd. It is missing all the hardware. The three drums are in pretty good shape, but I just didn't see this one going for this price. Most of these just don't peak out like this. A few days ago, the gold mist only went for 350. Anybody else shocked or intrigued?

Open to International Bidders! This No Reserve auction, is for a vintage 1960's Ludwig "STANDARD SERIES" drum outfit. The sizes are;

14" deep x 22" wide bass drum ( serial # 67603 )

16" deep x 16" wide floor tom ( serial # 66097 )

9" deep x 13" wide tom-tom ( serial # 67607 )

These three drums are all constructed out of three plies of wood ( mahogany/poplar/maple) and have solid maple interior glue-rings. The interiors are painted in Ludwig grey "Reso-coat" enamel. All three drums are factory wrapped in Ludwig "Blue Strata Pearl". Ludwig Standard series badges are securely affixed to each shell.

As you can see from my pictures, the blue strata pearl finish is in superb condition, and is extremely glossy, bright, and un-faded. There are just a few scratches in the pearl, but the overall appearance is breathtaking, and is quite honestly, the best I've ever seen! The grey interiors on each drum are immaculately preserved as a result of each drum never having it's drum heads left off.

There are absolutely no modifications to these drums, and each shell has every single one of it's original metal fittings. The hardware is brilliantly triple-AAA Diamond chrome plated, and you will find that only a few of the lugs have any signs of minor pin-point pitting. The bass drum has 20 lugs and T-rods, a Standard series single tom holder, 2 telescoping bass drum spurs, and shell mounted cymbal holder recieving unit. The floor tom has 16 Standard-series lugs, a screw-style internal muffler, and three Standard-series floor tom legs & brackets. The rack tom has just 12 Standard series lugs, a screw-style internal muffler, and a Standard-series tom mounting bracket.

Shipping And Handling to United States Domestic adresses will be $75.00, International Buyers will need to notify me with a shipping adress and phone number so that I can calculate a freight delivery fee. If you have any questions about this item, please e-mail me at; kingsmusic@toadmail.com. Thank you!

There was a cat that paid over $400 recently for a sixties Slingerland 16x16 floor tom in blue onyx with a substantial crack in the wrap and no legs..........

Strange as well............

Well, the end price surprised me as well! The one good thing about this is your going to see a gob of Standard kits show up for a bit. May be good for parts n pieces needed...
