I was wonderin if it would be a "vintage sin" if i traded the bat for a knob. No jokes guys. I am having a litl trubl learning how to adjust the bat muffler. If i want just a bit of muffle, i cant seem to get the handle to stay in that position. Is it just me or the muffler? This is on a floor tom, rack toms have knobs and i like them very well. Thanks for any input guys.
Ludwig bat muffler question

It isn't able to be done, the baseball bat has a larger hole than the knob muffler.
couple of things here..
maybe your bat muffler isn't tight enough. ive seen this cause that problem. you can tighten the large nut that secures the muffler against the shell and see if this helps. also make sure your muffler is engaging the head with the angled part of the felt. sometimes they get installed backwards.
like mark mentioned, they have different hole sizes. you can add a flat washer on each side of a round knob muffler and make sure it is lined up properly. by doing this, you can adapt the round knob muffler to the baseball bat drilled shell.
hope this helps..

Mike's comment about making sure it is installed correctly is very good. Also, the spring is suppose to create enough drag to keep the muffler in the desired position. You might check that the spring is installed and tightened correctly. If necessary you could add an additional washer to increase the tension.
after messing with with it more....im thinking its more the opperater then the muffler itself. muffler is installed correctly and tight. thanks for your input guys, i'll work with it more.
