Ludwig Baseball Bat Mufflers / Color "correctness"

Loading...

Quick and clean (I hope)!

I've got two Ludwig toms that have been factory-drilled to accept mufflers.

Based on what I've researched and on information provided to me (thanks, Jaye!) I believe that the Ludwig baseball bat muffler would be the "correct" one to install on both. I now need to determine whether white felt or red felt would be "correct". Below are the serial numbers on the keystone badges for each:

RACK TOM: 156053 (early 1965?)

FLOOR TOM: 244714 (late 1965?)

Actually both white for sure. I have both an older 65 floor tom and a younger 65 rack tom and they both have the white felt. Hope this helps.

I'm almost sure there could have been some transitional red mufflers in early '65. But, in general, they would be white.

You could get them off ebay for $40-$50. but if I were you I'd wait to find some beat up old Ludwig drums with them on them.
