You make some great points! The kit I have isn't all original (toms are 70's 3 ply Ludwigs and the kick is a USA Rocker. I re-wrapped them as well. If it was 100% original kit, I might not have bought the atlas mounts. Good thing it is, if I ever want to take them off...it's pretty easy and no new holes were drilled :)
Yep, I saw the description of your kit earlier, and my comments really weren't directed at your decision to use the Atlas mounts. I was just expressing my general feelings about using these terrific mounts on a complete top of the line vintage kit. And even then the choice is up to the individual owner. After all, as you pointed out, these mounts are easily removable without making any permanent modifications to the shells. Now if I were to order a brand new kit directly from the factory, I certainly would consider having them install Atlas hardware.
