Ludwig & Ludwig 1945 Wooden Snare

Loading...

Thanks to Dave, I now know that this is 1945 Ludwig & Ludwig snare.

The lugs and hoops are entirely made of wood due to the need for metal during the war.

It was played by a fellow who had a jazz trio after the war, nobody notable. The snare is in excellent condition, and was packed away all these years. The only blemish is where the black paint is flaking off of the hoops. Beyond that, the normal wear and tear is not evident on this beauty!

Hope the pics do it justice, and I hope that someone is looking for exactly this piece for their collection. It deserves to be in good hands after all this time and history.

The top hoop and skin head are off so I could photograph the serials.

Thanks guys. I have no idea what to ask or better yet what to accept! I'll probably hold out for the best offer, whatever that is. I'm not a collector, and it would go to waste in my household sitting in the basement.
