Ludwig Acrolite (Keystone Badge) Last viewed: 2 days ago

Loading...

Hey everybody,

It's been a while since I've posted something in here. Hope everyone is doing well. I'd like to get a bit of information on a very nice vintage snare I picked up that I'm considering selling. It is a Chicago Ludwig Acrolite with the original case, stand, and snares.

Curious what sort of information is out there regarding this drum, what it might be worth when I sell it, etc. Thanks for any input. I was told by a friend of mine that is an encyclopedia of Ludwig that this was a killer find, so what are your thoughts?

Thanks!

take a magnet and see if it sticks to your rims they are either aluminum or brass? if it sticks then it's steel ? it will matter on the price and more info to follow ?

appears to be an early 60's pre serial first generation acrolite. looks to be in nice shape. the hoops look like the original aluminum in the pics. but like mark said, magnet will tell the story on those. nice drum!

acrolites have an aluminum shell, so a magnet will not stick to the shell, as my bud Mike already mentioned your drum is the 1st generation acro so more than likely the rims are also aluminum. your drum has it's original case though in bad condition. the drum and case would sale in the $175.00 -$250.00 range.
