Hello again,

Ive been wondering what year approx. this is from? It has the round badge and its serial number starts with a 3 so i know its new(er) like 80s. It sounds great but ive never played one of these that is any older so i wouldnt know how it compares to the older ones. The strainer on it has the black front but has no piece of black rubber or plastic like ive seen on other pics of round badge Acrolites. I bought it with that MIC Zildjian A Ride for 300$ so i look at it as 150$CAD for the snare..Do you think that is a fair price? Any more info i can get on this is appreciated!

Thanks, MbbW

For a Canadian buyer, $150 is about right. When I was shopping for an Acro about nine months ago, they seemed to hover around the $100 mark in the U.S.... but by the time you factor in shipping and import costs and the like, they would all come out to about $150. And finding them locally was hard. There just aren't that many around here, and the ones I saw on craigslist were routinely asking $200 or so.

I bought mine from a forum member for $100 US, and then spent about $30 or $40 getting it shipped. So I think you did ok.

Kits:
1950s Gretsch Name Band in Midnight Blue Pearl (13/16/22/14sn)
1965/66 Ludwig Club Dates rewrapped in Black Diamond Pearl (12/15/20)

Interesting....Acrolites are abundantly abundant here in the U.S.

Well, in any case, I'm sure the drum will sound excellent. They always do.

Ya the guy i bought it from gets the quite often from the states and he said all said n done he pays about 150$CAD (for newer ones) and ive never seen them in Canada for any less like on CL or any local forums. So i thought i got a fair deal..the drum does sound awesome and i really needed a metal snare to go with my other wooden one.

Im often am living on the budget of a student so i cant do random buys when i see something cheap, so i end up taking what i can and bargaining when i finally do get money .

Thanks for the imput everyone!

Depending on condition..... an acrolite in very good shape is fair at 100$ US. a little more for old timers.... I got one (77-78)ish.. for 25$ in very dirty/needs heads and snares condition.... It's sitting pretty on my kit now. Those drums have a very very very LOUD rimshot. I call it my EarPopper. It's used as an accent snare and is tuned super tight.
