Ludwig 24x16 Bass Drum. What is this worth?

Loading...

Hello I'm selling this bass drum. I bought it years ago and never used it. I can't find one online anywhere so I'm guessing its somewhat rare. I would like a honest answer so I can get what its worth.

Ludwig 24x16 bass drum. Quad spurs. From the 80's from what i can tell.

Many Thanks

Tio

Good luck selling it. I had a three pc classic from 1980, in perfect condition and it took me 4 months, and yours has modular hardware, not classic, so it may take time. If you can, list it on Wichita , KS CL, they will pay stupid money for drums up there. The kid that bought my kit this weekend drove down to OKC to buy my kit because there is stupidity going on up there. So, if you list it, and keep listing it, you MIGHT get 100. Sorry, but that is the market today, not a very desirable size, and an orphan to boot. Not to say that it is a bad drum, it is a nice shell, but not very sought after. Bad news, but it is the truth. Where do you live? That will make a huge difference to how quickly it sells. In some areas, like OKC, there is not much of a vintage market, and since this is a mid-80s, it is not really considered vintage. First shot would be CL in your area, and list it at 200no more. If you get no play, drop to 150. You will get every flake, and they are everywhere on CL, so don't let the first response or thirty neg you out. I was offered a "gas grill" and 25 bucks for my set....

Also, if you list that you will not tolerate any offers by email, you will weed out most of the flakes. Tell them you can only accept qualified offers in person. It worked wonders fpr me, most of the flakes stayed away. You will get a few, but not a many as if you don't tell them to stay away.

Ia'm with jonnistixs on this one.You would be lucky to get 150.00 for it more like 100.00..These Ludwigs bass drums are common to fine and hard to sell even in the maple finish again a common finish that ludwig had and still has...Mikey

Here is another thought/help in wording your listing:

For sale mid-80s Ludwig Bass 16"X24"! Here is your chance to explore the world of a big double bass sound on the cheap. I have had this bad boy for quite awhile and just don't have space as I am looking to go another direction. My loss is your gain as this is a real Ludwig and the shell is perfect (only if this is the truth)....

From here you should go into detail listing any and all defects, no matter how small. This will show a serious buyer that you have integrity. It could take you quite awhile to sell it, so be patient and the right buyer will come along, and then at the end, use something like this:

...Please no offers by email, no CL FLakes. Qualified offers will only be considered in person, cash in hand.

This may sound harsh from the outside looking in, but trust me, after the first 2 times I listed and all of the CLFlakes and nutjobs and losers and no shows, you will spend much less time dealing with this type of "buyer", no shows and losers. You will have many people still email and offer and express "interest", but no where as many as if you don't post this statement.

Again, Good Luck!!

Yeah, I saw this posting on CL earlier today. $600? Not. BTW, this is a good sounding bass drum, but that modular mount is hideous to me.

Hey, just a thought. Why not offer a gas grill with it? Heck, throw in a 12-pack and a side of potatoe-salad. Might "Git-R-done". :D
