Ludwig 20x18'' Floor Tom

Loading...

Hey y'all,

I picked up this drum from a cousin recently. Was hoping someone could give me more insight into it. It's a 20x18'' Ludwig floor tom from 1970. It's date stamped May 14th, 1970 and has serial number 777xxx but it appears to be mahogany/poplar/mahogany. And on top of that, it has just a black wrap.

Nothing seems tooooo crazy here, but was black (and not black panther) a cataloged wrap option at the time?

How rare is this thing? How much might it be worth?

Normally the wrapped drums of that era were mahogany/poplar/maple but it seems that the bigger floor toms (18 and 20) often have mahogany interiors. Not sure of the reason for that but yours is not the only one like that.
