It's time to let go of many of my drums and hardware items. Baby steps!
First up is my beautiful 1966 Ludwig Pioneer snare drum, 5.5 x 14 (yes, it measures an actual 5.5" deep!), wrapped in White Marine Pearl. Keystone badge with serial number 340360. Black-ink date stamped SEP 16 1966
All original parts, including heads and snare wires. I did swap out the lug retaining screws for cleaner period-correct screws, but the originals will be included. The batter head has a very small puncture, which can be seen at the dark spot at about the 9 o'clock position and the bottom head has a minor tear at the bearing edge. No issues and these original heads just give that MOJO to the drum!
The shell is 3-ply Mahogany/Poplar/Mahogany with solid maple reinforcement hoops. However, looking closely, the shell looks more like Mahogany/Poplar/Maple. Hard to tell what Ludwig may have used! The original RESA-COTE paint still looks very white, with some typical flaking from age. The WMP wrap has only SLIGHTLY faded. Definitely not "yellowed", but more "mellowed". Looks beautiful! Yes, the wrap is lapped into the seam! There is a very slight "pucker" at the seam, directly above the lug, which you can see in one of the pictures. Really not bad at all, but needs to be mentioned.
Unmolested air vent grommet on the Keystone badge. Baseball-bat muffler very clean and works smoothly. The P-83 strainer is very clean and shiny, with just a touch of corrosion around some of the holes. Almost not worth mentioning, but that's how I roll! The P-32 butt is also very clean.
Finally, included is a very nice Ludwig "script logo" DURA-HYDE cover from the mid 60's!
Sorry for the long description. Just wanted to let everyone know how nice this drum is.
