What a great job!Clapping Happy2
The kit looks (and I'm sure sounds) fantastic!
THANKS for sharing the pic AND the story.
Beautiful kit. Dig the background, too.

Sweetness in Green, baby...... !!!!!
Beautiful! i have the exact kit with original green sparkle wrap. Mine is 1965 and has a different cymbal arm.
Great job!
THis is one of my favorite pics on this site. I actually put it as my background on my laptop. Not just because the drums look absolutely beautiful, but because that wallpaper is AMAZING as well! Where did you find it?
Thanks,
Adam
Thanks for the nice comments guys,...
I thought that the green sparkle finish was a good idea and indeed,... I must say it turned out really nice.
The bass drum and the 12" tom came as matched "Duco Combo" set but both drums were terribly messed around with so the only option was re-wrapping them. Also the snare was a Duco beyond restoration.
Since I was going for a re-wrap anyhow, I suppose I wanted to make it very obvious. Original green-sparkle sets are rare and most of them suffer from fading so ,....
The floor tom was a difficult one. It took a while to get one and I did I find a perfect one under 250 USD. Even the date and serial number almost matched with the BD and tom. The drama was that I had to destroy an almost perfect original blue sparkle wrap for it,... I hope you guys can forgive for this horrible act of total disrespect . Eye Ball
All the hardware was collected over the past months through separate Ebay auctions, some in Germany, some in UK, some in US,...
But above all,... this kit sounds killer !!!
I'm also getting a lot of comments on the background, thanks for that to,...
The picture is taken in my living room in front of a curved wall which I wallpapered last year in a cool "retro design". I'm not sure for the US but over here in Europe these designs can be found in most "trendy" interior decoration shops. I must say that in general I'm a disciple of everything that smells of late 60's early 70's stuff whether it' s furniture, toys, clothes, bikes, etc.... I collect lots of stuff and I own a 70's German 50cc bike, a vast collection of 60's slot-cars, furniture etc... Check out this website.

Anyway,... this forum is truly the max and most inspiring. I enjoy mostly the "helping" character of it and the fact that it's not run by a bunch of know-it-alls who would scare of or ridicule new-comers and amateurs like me,... Most forums have a whole bunch of those.
This Club Date was my first real vintage drum restorations but most definitely not my last one,...
Thanks again guys !

I saw yours already a couple of months ago on this form and I must admit they helped me to take the final decision and go for the green sparkle,...
What an amazing kit,.. a true beauty.
Nice to see you're using them for recordings and gigs to.
Cheers
